Theory and Practice in Science-8 week
A big welcome to all students commencing the Theory and Practice in Science unit!
I am very much looking forward to meeting you. Before the semester begins there are few things that I would like to bring to your attention. I am the lecturer in charge of this course and if you have any questions please email me.
The Cloudcampus site has the up-to-date information about this unit. Please read the course outline as it contains details about your lectures, practise exercises and assessments.
This course will be taught over a period of 6 weeks, which will consist of 2 hours per week Live Teaching Online. In addition to this 12 hours of live lectures, there will be 8 hours of recorded lectures. You will be expected to put in 12 hours of learning time.
The course is divided into 3 topics. For the first block of the unit (Topic 1: Introduction to Chemistry), there will be 4 hours of live teaching, including an additional 1 hour of recorded lecture. For the second block (Topic 2: Analytical Chemistry), there will be 4 hours of live teaching and 1 hour of recorded lecure. For the final block (Topic 3: Real Life application in Food Chemistry), there will be 4 hours of live teaching, and 6 hours of recorded lectures). Information on in-semester assignments is available on the Cloudcampus site. The additional recorded materials can be found on the site and you will be required to watch them prior to coming to class. Mark sure that you do so in order to give you the best opportunity to learn!
Last but not least, this course will be fun and engaging with opportunities for problem solving exercises! I cannot wait to introduce you to the fascinating world of chemistry and all areas of modern science and technology!
