This course is intended to improve the command of the English language within the science discipline and its public health area. Students undertaking this course will improve their ability to comprehend and communicate in the language of this discipline. Students are expected to expand their vocabulary by undertaking focused readings from a selection of peer-reviewed journal articles and learning activities. Students will gain academic insights on current affairs of science and public health like for example, antimicrobial resistance, next-generation DNA sequencing, and food safety.
The course is most suitable for those who have completed Year 1 of an undergraduate university degree major in
science, or health science-related fields e.g. food safety, biotechnology,
microbiology, public health.
