SDUST/SUT-EEE40017-Machine Vision-2024 Autumn
This unit of study aims to
provide you with a solid foundation of the fundamentals of digital image
processing for machine vision applications. You will learn how to apply 2D
image filtering and transformation techniques to solve common machine vision
and image processing problems using MATLAB.
This Machine Vision unit is designed based on an ancient Chinese proverb:

“I hear, I forget; I see, I remember; I do, I understand.”
Therefore, more emphasis is given to analysis and actual “doing the things” and less emphasis is given to the theoretical developments.
This unit is completely based on MATLAB platform. Several examples and videos from the Internet will also be used. The Lecture, Tutorial and Lab components are synchronized for better learning. During the online/ face-to-face Lecture, you will be going through some illustrative videos and MATLAB examples which you will execute yourself. Similarly, in Tutorials as well as in Lab sessions, some MATLAB examples will be given which you will actually implement, execute and analyse the results yourself, with your own inputs.
After completing this course, you will be able to independently design, develop and implement MATLAB-based scripts for several Image Processing and Computer Vision applications.
